FIELD: firefighting equipment. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has cables 1 laid in single or multiple layers and wrapped along their length with plurality of flexible cover plates 2 made from fireproof fabric impermeable for polyethylene melt, and layers of heat-insulating and heat-resistant material. Longitudinal edges 3 of cover plates 2 are connected in overlapping relation and secured by tightening devices 4. Cover plates 2 are joined one with the other in overlapping relation or by means of couplings 6 made from fireproof fabric impermeable for polyethylene melt. Edges 7 of couplings are also joined in overlapping relation and secured by means of additional tightening devices 8. Couplings 6 and cover plates 8 are provided with layers of heat-insulating and heat-resistant material, manufactured from basalt fibers. Serge-type basalt fabric may be used for manufacture of cover plates 2 and couplings 6. Transverse size of cover plates 2 corresponds to size required for embracing the number of cables 1 allowable by mounting and maintenance conditions. Tightening devices 4 and additional tightening devices are made in the form of belts manufactured from fireproof material, such as plaited basalt fibers. Apparatus may be used for protecting cables from flame of ignition source and allows cable burning to be completely eliminated.
