FIELD: diagnostics and nondestructive inspection based on X-ray and gamma tomography. SUBSTANCE: proposed technology can find use in aviation, cosmonautics, atomic power engineering, oil and gas industry, mechanical engineering and medicine. Technology involves reduction of linear coefficients of absorption and dispersion by mechanism of recording of scattered radiation passed without interaction and of solution of system of equations of ray sums and mathematical modeling. Distribution of effective atomic number is reconstructed by ratio of obtained coefficients of absorption and dispersion. Distribution of density of substance is reconstructed by distribution of effective atomic number and linear coefficient of dispersion. EFFECT: determination of distribution of effective atomic number invariant to distribution of density and determination of distribution of density invariant to distribution of atomic number. 5 dwg
