SUBSTANCE: compensating cathode has igniter electrode 1 that houses coaxially mounted holder 2; the latter carries insulating tube 3 surrounded by heat shields 3, coil of heater 5 placed around emission unit 6 accommodating heated emitter 7 with duct and gas feeding pipe 8; wire 9 is wound on heater coil at winding pitch larger than wire diameter; wire is covered with material 10 chemically inactive to contacting material. Heater is surrounded in longitudinal direction by at least one end heat shield 11 provided with central hole. Heater coil may be covered with material chemically inactive to surrounding materials, emissivity factor being at least 0.3.
