FIELD: soil and animal science. SUBSTANCE: trap has cylindrical vessel 1 with opening 2, rod 3 which defines gap 4 with vessel 1, when trap is mounted in operating position. Gap 4 may be adjusted from zero to required size by moving rod 3. Animals living in different soil layers may be simultaneously caught by positioning several vessels on single pole in spaced relation one with respect to the other. Trap of such construction allows animals to be caught in predetermined soil layers for determining animal dynamic density, as well as for investigating animal habitats and migration in soil. EFFECT: increased efficiency, simplified construction, minimum disturbance of soil structure and decreased penetration of soil particles into vessel with animals. 3 cl, 3 dwg
