FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves determining inflammatory and dystrophic changes of afterbirth. The inflammatory and dystrophic changes are determined in all parts of the afterbirth: in various parts of placenta, villi, intervilliferous space, afterbirth envelopes, placenta and its blood vessels. Inflammatory and dystrophic changes are determined in the center and peripheral part of placenta, on the maternal and fetal sides. The combination of detected inflammatory and dystrophic changes in different structural parts of the afterbirth is used to make conclusions concerning the risk of intrauterine infection development in newborns.
