SUBSTANCE: device has illuminating system for continuous illumination of material throughout all areas of spectrum under investigation and detector incorporating at least two linear parallel charge-coupled device matrices. Each CCD matrix is provided with filter having definite passband; some filters are arranged so that at least one of them passes radiation in visible spectrum and another one, in invisible spectrum. For detecting light reflected from sheet material or passed through it some CCD matrices shape electric signals from accepted light which are then processed in special unit and compared with base data for checking the sheet material.
