METHOD FOR PRODUCTION OF PLASTICIZED NITROCELLULOSE OR COLLOXYLIN Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: paper- and-pulp industry. SUBSTANCE: in a method including preparing aqueous suspension of nitrocellulose or colloxylin, plasticizing them in presence of process additives, and separating liquid phase of suspension from its solid phase, novelty resides in that above-said suspension contains 2 to 12 wt % of nitrocellulose or colloxylin and, after its preparation, principal and/or auxiliary plasticizers are completed by process additives and mixed to form homogeneous mixture, from which emulsion with particle size 10 to 2000 mcm is prepared. This emulsion is added to aqueous suspension of nitrocellulose or colloxylin and the total is stirred until homogeneity is attained, after which mixture is dewatered on squeezing worm press filter at pressure 7 to 40 MPa until moisture content 4 to 8% is attained and resultant material is cut by cutting members. Utilized principal plasticizer is dioctyl or dibutyl phthalate, and, as auxiliary plasticizer, chloroparaffin is used, their ratio ranging from 4:1 to 1:1, respectively. Above-mentioned process additives are monobasic saturated fatty acid salts, e. g. stearic acid salt, used in amounts from 0.1 to 3% of the weight of colloxylin.
