FIELD: laser engineering. SUBSTANCE: gas-dynamic orifice (lock) has flat nozzle and diffuser. Nozzle wall on optical resonator side is flat and on atmosphere side it is shaped structure with Mach number lower at outlet than at flat wall. Diffuser inlet section wall on optical resonator side, incident flow, and main-channel wall constitute angles smaller than angle of flow turn in shock wave with critical pressure drop when shock wave interacts with boundary layer of jet at wall and with that on wall, respectively. Gas-dynamic orifice (lock) shows high optical characteristics when beam is brought out of, say, gas-dynamic carbon dioxide laser into atmosphere. EFFECT: enhanced economic efficiency, improved optical characteristics of orifice (lock). 1 cl, 2 dwg
