FIELD: forest engineering. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has frame, drive mounted on frame and connected to shafts through chain circuit. Sprocket is positioned outside chain circuit. Roller supports and rotary brackets are mounted on frame. Shafts provided with cams are secured on brackets. Furrow cutting tools mounted on ends of shafts are provided with eccentrically positioned fingers carrying cutting members pivotally fixed to fingers with their ends. During operation of root cutting apparatus, shafts with cutting tools rotate in opposite directions, and as a result, ends of cutting member oscillate relative to mid portion of this member. Cooperation of cams with roller supports provides reciprocating motion of cutting member in direction transverse to direction of advancement of apparatus. Combination of movement of cutting member ends in different directions activates its operation. EFFECT: increased efficiency, reduced draft and improved root cutting characteristics of apparatus. 3 dwg
