FIELD: railway transport. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to design of locomotives intended for operation in highly dust-laden atmospheres with presence of abrasive particles in air. Proposed locomotive has carrying frame with body accommodating generator, air cleaners, diesel engine connected with cooling device and exhaust system. Discharge hatch cover located over diesel engine. Locomotive is furnished also with blowing fan and curtain fan with air cleaners installed at fan inlets, pressure stabilizer and curtain collector is form of duct around diesel engine. Screens are installed at duct outlet, and metering grid at duct inlet. Curtain collector is connected with curtain fan and air cleaners through air pipe connected from other side to second stage air cleaner. Proposed design of locomotive provides its efficient operation in dust-laden atmospheres, serviceability of locomotive sets, required gauge pressure and microclimate in front part of body and power compartment complying with sanitation standards. Adequate heat removal from heat stressed surfaces of diesel engine and required gauge pressure in power compartment of body are provided by isolating inhabited spaces from hot parts of diesel engine by means of air curtain at minimum consumption of power to operate curtain fan which supplies also fresh air into front part of body, and blowing fan which provides delivery of fresh air into body and maintains higher gauge pressure in body.
