FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: according to the first version, external surface of metal shell of slide gate plate is machined to obtain location surface. Then refractory plate is fastened in shell. Slide gate plate assembly is secured in machine tool by location surface and face surface of refractory plate is machined. According to the second version, face surface plate is machined to obtain location surface. Side gate plate assembly is secured by location surface in machine tool and external surface of shell is machined. This is how planeness of external surface of shell and face surface of refractory plate is provided. Slide gate plate assembly is secured in machine tool by means of pushing apart and pushed apart members located in plate opening or by fastening and locking members engageable with one another.
