METHOD FOR TREATING THE CASES OF OPTIC NERVE ATROPHY Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves cutting out episcleral flap, introducing it through penetrating scleral incision near the flap base. Alloplant is placed over the flap. The alloplant is ribbon-shaped and has notch and two pedicles for the optic nerve on one end that is brought to the optic nerve disk. The pedicles are placed on the area of peripapillary choroid and attached to scleral wound edges with U-shaped suture. Duplicature is created from protruding portion of the ribbon and the latter is fixed in angle parts to episclera with four interrupted sutures. EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of treatment; created additional vascular network around the optic nerve disk and peripapillary choroid; improved blood supply. 5 dwg
