FIELD: glassmaking. SUBSTANCE: liquid glass destined for manufacture of building materials is prepared from suspension of silica-containing amorphous material: microsilica, which is crystalline silicon production waste with particle size (10-200)10-6 m, in sodium hydroxide solution at ratio of solid and liquid phases in suspension 1:(1.9-5.65). Suspension is subjected to hydrothermal treatment for 10 to 120 min at pressure 0.2 MPa and 100-120 C. Invention extends ranges of silica modulus and density of liquid glass. EFFECT: enabled production of homogeneous product with special chemical composition imparting high chemical stability and heat resistance to materials and articles based on liquid glass. 2 tbl
