FIELD: glassmaking. SUBSTANCE: liquid glass destined for manufacture of building materials is prepared from suspension of silica-containing amorphous material with particle size (80-200 and more)10-6 m in sodium hydroxide solution at ratio of solid and liquid phases in suspension 1:(1.9-5.65). Suspension is subjected to hydrothermal treatment for 35 to 240 min at pressure 0.3 MPa and 130-150 C. Invention extends ranges of silica modulus and density of liquid glass. EFFECT: reduced duration of process and enabled production of quality homogeneous product. 1 tbl
