FIELD: electrical engineering; turbine- generator sets of thermal power plants. SUBSTANCE: bearing cap and upper part of bearing shell are removed from journal, then rotor and tool kit are set in relative positions convenient for mechanical treatment. Novelty is that prior to repairs tool kit is suspended relative to plane of rotor-bearing split joint, faulty journal is lengthwise divided into at least two sections, journal eccentricity is measured, and results obtained are recorded. Data on measurements made at two extreme sections are used to determine out-of-roundness of rotor journal relative to rated diameter, and then tool kit is positioned relative to rotor axis by scanning rotor journal with aid of laser scanners; to this end, error found as result of measurements is entered in scanner, then longitudinal feed axis of tool kit is as if built in rotor axis, tool kit is locked in position, and mechanical treatment is performed. In this way rotor journals can be repaired without removing them from thrust bearings. EFFECT: facilitated procedure, reduced labor consumption. 8 cl, 5 dwg, 3 tbl
