FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to method for restoration of worn surfaces of block journals of wheel set axles in rolling stock and track machines. Worn surface is turned for sputtering to depth of 0.9-1.0 mm. Oil-lubricated turned surface of journal is rolled by roller with its impression into journal metal with force of impression that makes 0.5-0.6 mm per side. Rolled and neighboring surfaces of journal are degreased, and fine thread is cut. Then electric arc metallization is carried out by sputtering by means of spraying of liquid metal drops into finest particles under pressure of compressed gas 0.55-0.60 MPa and their sputtering onto prepared surface of journal. Sputtering is carried out with distance of the first sputtering pass equal to 115-120 mm, and for all subsequent passes - 145-150 mm. Produced sputtered layer is turned down to its rated size.
EFFECT: production of restored axle journals with a specified endurance limit, with higher strength characteristics of coating with simultaneous improvement of sputtering efficiency and reduction of cost for sputtering.
