FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to railroad rolling stock, particularly to recovery of worn-out surfaces of wheel pair axle box journals by physical vapor deposition process, namely, in arc spraying. Journal worn-out surface is turned down, in steps, to depth of 1.0 to 1.1 mm and 2.0 to 2.1 mm, on first and second bearing seats, respectively, to provide a tapered transition there between. After rolling and degreasing, fine thread is cut in bearing seats and circular grooves are cut in aforesaid tapered transition. Then metal drops are arc sprayed on prepared surface at 0.60 to 0.70 MPa of compressed gas. The latter can represent air, carbon dioxide, ICE exhaust gases, nitrogen or inert gas. With coat thickness exceeding, a bit, rated value, sprayed layer is processed to make required thickness.
EFFECT: higher efficiency.
