FIELD: electrical machine manufacture. SUBSTANCE: manufacturing process includes manufacture of stack of electric steel stampings with central slot and open slots over perimeter, stack assembling, compression, and bracing with aid of cramps. The latter are formed by bending band down to slot bottom while applying radial force and onto both ends of stack. Prior to bending down band is deformed to obtain inverted-V section and inserted into stack slot from top downward. Band is bent down to slot bottom by flattening inverted-V section within slot. Prior to compression stack is mounted by means of its through slot onto mandrel arranged on table of press provided with hold-down slab used for compressing the stack applying desired compression force. Steel band is inserted into slots by automatically feeding two bands reeled off rolls at the same time inserting them into respective diametrically opposite slots by means of convex rollers of cramp-shaping heads incorporated in stator-cramping machine with mentioned heads moving upward. Bands are flattened within slots during reverse movement of heads by means of straightening rollers and trimmed on both ends by means of two knives. Exact positioning of stampings with respect to slots and high precision of alignment of inner and outer diameters of stampings ensure adequate compression of magnetic-core stack.
