FIELD: electrical engineering; protection of high-voltage equipment of stations and substations. SUBSTANCE: protective gear used to protect high-voltage equipment of stations and substations against lighting and switching surges has at least one varistor column placed in insulating cylinder in a spaced relation to form gas outlet duct. Insulating cylinder is placed in cylindrical insulating case and accommodates ring with diametrically locked strip on one end that carries varistor column and two rings on opposite end with disk installed in-between to hold varistor column in position. Ring with strip may have depressions on inner side. EFFECT: enhanced explosion safety and reliability of protective gear; reduced material input. 2 cl, 4 dwg
