FIELD: gate plates for use in slide gates for regulation of molten metal flow, particularly, gate plate units capable to resisting to cracking caused by thermal stresses. SUBSTANCE: invention concerns construction of blunted plate corners. Length and width of plate is determined depending on diameter of hole in plate from refractory material. Construction lines are drawn which are parallel to plate outer edges and located at distance equaling half of hole diameter. Lines are drawn between points of intersection of construction lines and points of hole touching. In this case, each line shall cross the longitudinal central axis. At the next stage of technique, not only corners sizes are determined but length of blunted corners as well. EFFECT: optimal distribution of drawing-in force in regions of gate plate liable to formation of stresses with corners blunted for prevention of crack spreading. 15 cl, 15 dwg
