FIELD: formation of seismic signals from ground surface. SUBSTANCE: proposed drive includes power electromagnet whose excitation winding is connected via thyristors to first and second reservoir capacitors fitted with chargers. Diode is placed in parallel with first capacitor and resistor and diode connected in series are connected in parallel with second capacitor. EFFECT: increased operational efficiency of seismic source thanks to simplified electric circuit and excitation winding, reduced weight of electromagnet without decrease of developed force and diminished level of voltage across winding and switching devices. 3 dwg
