FIELD: forestry. SUBSTANCE: method involves cutting wood material; separating semifinished materials such as short-cut and fire wood parts from basic flow of wood; dividing semifinished wood by length equal to length of round wood free of defects or multiple the length; removing defective parts of wood; filling cavities with wood pieces; forming grooves in inner surfaces of short-cut wood filled with wood pieces or in wood piece surfaces, along the whole length of contacting wood pieces and short-cut wood. Method allows cavities in wood pieces to be effectively filled. EFFECT: increased efficiency, simplified method and improved quality of round wood. 3 cl, 4 dwg
