FIELD: automotive industry; intercity-service and tourist buses; passive safety devices. SUBSTANCE: body of bus is furnished with longitudinal safety bar made in form of thin-walled closed section installed under body windows. To provide rigidly and adequate bending strength, bar has considerable width and projects into bus interior, being used simultaneously as arm rest for passenger seats. This bar protects passengers from side impacts and decreases deformation of body at head-on and oblique collisions. To prevent jack-knifing of roof at turning over, movable braces are installed on pillars. These braces are turned in cross plane relative to upper end by drive operated by pickup in case of probability of turning over of bus. Lower end of braces moves in slots of bar upper flange to stop against lock, thus forming rigid triangle with bar and pillar. Strength and rigidly of such system is several times higher than that of standard pillars. EFFECT: improved safety of bus. 2 cl, 4 dwg
