FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, particularly, inoculants based on ferrosilicon for production of pig iron with flake, compact or spheroidal graphite. SUBSTANCE: pig iron inoculant contains the following components, wt.%: silicon 40-80; calcium and/or strontium, and/or boron 0.5-10; manganese and/or titanium, and/or zirconium 0-10; oxygen in form of one or several oxides of metals 0.5-10; cerium and/or lanthanum 0-10; magnesium 0-5; sulfur in form of one or several sulfides of metals 0.1-10; aluminum less then 5; the balance, iron. Method includes production of base alloy which additionally contains the following components, wt.%: cerium and/or lanthanum 0-10; magnesium 0-5; aluminum less than 5. Added to base alloy, in this case, are 0.5- 10 wt.% of oxygen in form of one or several oxides of metals and 0.1-10 wt.% of sulfur in form of sulfides of metals. EFFECT: additional increase of crystallization centers formed due to addition of inoculant to pig iron, improved reproduction of formation of crystallization centers. 8 cl, 6 tbl
