FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy, in particular to modifiers for the production of cast iron with spherical graphite. The modifier for the production of cast iron with spherical graphite contains a ferrosilicon-based alloy in the form of particles consisting of, wt.%: 40-80 Si, 0.02-8 Ca, 0-5 Sr, 0-12 Ba, 0-15 rare earth metal, 0-5 Mg, 0.05-5 Al, 0-10 Mn, 0-10 Ti, 0-10 Zr, Fe and unavoidable impurities – the rest. The specified modifier additionally contains, based on the total mass of the modifier in wt.%: 0.1-15 Sb₂O₃ in the form of particles and at least one of 0.1-15 Bi₂O₃ in the form of particles, and/or 0.1-5 of one or more of Fe₃O₄, Fe₂O₃, FeO in the form of particles or a mixture thereof, and/or 0.1-5 of one or more of FeS, FeS₂, Fe₃S₄ in the form of particles or a mixture thereof.

EFFECT: invention is aimed at increasing the efficiency of the modifier by improving the nucleation during the crystallization of cast iron and increasing the density of spherical graphite inclusions, as well as increasing the resistance to a decrease in the modifying effect for a long time of holding the melt after modification.
