FIELD: cast iron production.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a modifier for the production of cast iron with nodular graphite. The modifier contains a ferrosilicon alloy in the form of particles, containing, wt.%: from about 40 to 80; 0.02-10 Ca; 0-15 rare earth metal; 0-5 Al; 0-5Sr; 0-5 Mg; 0-12 Va; 0-10 Zr; 0-10 Ti; 0-10 Mn; whereim at least one of the elements Ba, Sr, Zr, Mn or Ti or their sum is present in an amount of at least 0.05, the rest is Fe and inevitable impurities, and the modifier additionally contains, based on the total weight of the modifier, 0, 1-15 wt.% Sb2O3 in the form of particles.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at increasing the efficiency of the modifier by increasing the formation of crystallization nuclei and increasing the resistance to reducing the modifying effect during a long holding time of the cast iron melt.
