FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and can be used for modification of cast iron with plate, vermicular or globular graphite. Modifier contains a particulate ferrosilicon alloy containing 40–80 wt% of silicon, 0.1–10 wt% of calcium, 0–10 wt% of rare-earth elements in the form of cerium and/or lanthanum, and up to 5 wt% of aluminum with a residue of iron and random impurities in a normal amount, which additionally contains 0.1–10 wt% antimony oxide based on the total weight of the modifier, where said antimony oxide has a particle shape and is mixed with particles of the ferrosilicon alloy, or is added to the cast iron simultaneously with the ferrosilicon alloy particles.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to significantly increase the number of nuclei or numerical density of globular discharge in cast iron while adding to said cast iron said modifier containing antimony oxide particles.
