FIELD: safety in storage and application of nuclear weapons. SUBSTANCE: proposed method and device are characterized in that liquid or suspended explosive is used as high explosive charge of atomic warhead and is stored in additional compartment and that prior to or in the course of its use ammunition is fed to charge pocket of atomic warhead by means of pumping-and- metering device thereby providing for its arming. Used as high explosive is liquid glycerin nitroisobutyltrinitrate or octogen suspension in following proportion, mass percent: liquid high explosive (glycerin nitroizobutyltrinitrate) 100,0 - 71,94; solid high explosive (octogen) 0,0 - 27,06; auxiliary dopes 0,0 - 01,00. Additional compartment holding liquid or suspended high explosive is stored and transported separately from nuclear ammunition. When nuclear ammunition is placed on carrier, additional-compartment line is joined with ammunition line through coupling to form integral pipeline. Liquid or suspended explosive is fed on command from nuclear-weapon control system to charge pocket of atomic warhead through valve arrangement thereby ensuring its arming. Radioactive charge is located in design-assigned point of atomic warhead; initiating means are installed in its case. Atomic warhead arm time is 2 to 5 minutes. EFFECT: eliminated probability of accidental or unauthorized operation of atomic warhead during ammunition storage and transportation. 2 cl, 2 dwg, 2 tbl
