FIELD: petrochemical processes. SUBSTANCE: method is based on employing thermal treatment installation involving short-time contact of vapors and including horizontal moving bed of fluidized hot particles. Residual starting material is fed into short-time vapor-contact reaction zone to be in contact with fluidized hot particles. As the result, components with high Konradson carbon level and metal-containing components deposited on aforesaid hot solids are obtained as well as vaporized fraction containing olefin products. The latter is separated from solids, which are passed through stripping zone coming into contact with stripping gas and thereby are freed from volatile components. Stripped particles are transferred into heating zone wherein they are heated to effective temperature, which maintains reaction zone temperature, and then into reaction zone coming into contact with fresh raw material. EFFECT: increased olefin yield. 7 cl, 1 dwg
