FIELD: strong pulse magnetic systems for solid-state and high-energy physics. SUBSTANCE: coil has cylinder made of easy- melting metal held in mould of nonmagnetic plastic material which is placed in vessel. Proposed device functions as follows. Cooling agent is injected into vessel through pipe union. Cylinder liquid metal hardens under effect of low temperature to acquire shape of mold thereby producing cylinder. Current-carrying buses pass current from pulse generator through flanges to cylinder and the latter builds up desired magnetic field. If current pulse causes cracks in cylinder, cooling agent is discharged through outlet pipe union from vessel. In the process cylinder metal acquires liquid state. Then cooling agent is injected in vessel, metal hardens, and cylinder is ready to receive next current pulse. EFFECT: enhanced service life due to easy-melting metal used for coil manufacture. 1 dwg
