FIELD: microwave electronics. SUBSTANCE: method for generating periodic microwave pulse train in virtual-cathode device that has diode region formed by cathode electrode and grid anode as well as equipotential region which is next to diode region and is confined between grid anode and electron collector involves periodic shaping of electron beam in diode region of device, its injection together with current exceeding maximum vacuum value into equipotential region of device through grid anode to form virtual cathode, and application of cut-off potential across cathode during intervals between train pulses; mentioned cut-off potential is fed from additional power supply. Novelty it that additional power supply used in this method is negative DC voltage source whose rating is higher than working electron output from grid anode material which is connected together with series-connected inductive element to cathode electrode. EFFECT: simplified circuit arrangement for connecting additional power supply, minimized number of stray signals. 1 dwg
