FIELD: plasma machining of materials, specifically, plasma welding and cutting of metals. SUBSTANCE: nozzle unit of plasma generator has inner and outer nozzles. Outlet conduit has narrowing cone-shaped part in zone of inlet hole passing to cylindrical part and conical part expanding towards working butt in zone of outlet hole. Swirler is manufactured in the form of tangential conduits formed by conjugate surfaces of nozzles which outlet holes are located on conical part in zone of outlet hole. Slit wheel is inseparably coupled to inner nozzle. Inner nozzle is placed on gas-lubricated bearings. Enhanced reliability of plasma generator is secured thanks to stabilization of generated plasma by way of its maximum compression and effective removal of gas from discharge chamber.
