FIELD: preparation of oxygen-containing compounds, namely ketones, unsaturated alcohols and optionally aldehydes. SUBSTANCE: said compounds are used in many industries as solvents, deparaffinizers of motor fuels and oil, for producing medicinal and agents and are also semi products in organic syntheses. It is proposed to carry out isomerization using 8-15 wt % solution of dried magnesium bromide as catalyst in dipolar aprotic solvent resulting from heteroazeotropic vacuum drying at still temperature of 115-120 C using ketones or alcohols as azeotrope-forming agent. Isomerization is carried out at 110-140 C, magnesium bromide concentration of 4.5-8.5 wt % in reaction mixture. Dipolar solvent is dimethylformamide or N-methylpyrrolidone.
