FIELD: pyrometallurgy; applicable in oxidizing roasting of ores and concentrates containing metal sulfides. SUBSTANCE: method includes supply of oxygen-containing gas to material to be roasted and roasting of material in filtering layer located on bottom. In this case, filtering layer is moved under control over bottom and oxygen-containing gas is supplied by portions through bottom from below. Device for embodiment of claimed method includes heat-insulated body provided with loading bin, unloading trough and air box, nondowncoming porous bottom and mechanism for moving of roasted material. Bottom is made of ceramics with open area up to 50% and provided with autonomous, regulated heating elements. Air box is separated into sections with autonomous dosed supply of oxygen-containing gas. EFFECT: higher roasting rate, productivity with regulated fullness of oxidation of ores and concentrates containing sulfides in amount from one to dozens per cent, minimal flue dust escape. 2 cl, 1 dwg
