FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: invention provides multicomponent fibers, in which at least one component forms open surface on at least part of multicomponent fiber consisting of first polymer characterized by melting temperature, which enables thermal bond of multicomponent fiber with other fibers. Multicomponent fibers contain two polymers of lactic acid with different L/D ratio, wherein L and D denote two enantiomers. Second component consists of second lactic acid polymer with L/D ratio higher that that of the first polymer. Melting point of the second polymer is by at least about 10 C higher than that of the first polymer. Multicomponent fiber is manufactured by imposing corresponding melting temperatures and shear thrusts on the first and second components. Difference between apparent viscosity values of the first and second components is less than about 150 Pa/s. First component has adhesion to the second one to form multicomponent fiber. Multicomponent fiber is useful in manufacture of nonwoven structures which is important in throw-away absorption products designed for absorption excretions such as body excretions.
