FIELD: electromagnetic examinations, applicable mainly for search, detection, identification and tracking of routes of metal-containing extended underwater objects, silt up in the ground soil inclusive, for example, underwater pipe-lines, power cables, etc. SUBSTANCE: the device has an AC generator and an electromagnetic field radiator made in the form of two pairs of exciting current electrodes installed in the fore and aft parts of the underwater search plant, two electromagnetic field receivers in the form of four receiving electrodes, receiver signal selector, two switches, and a control and signal transduction unit. The exciting current electrodes are positioned in the horizontal plane of the underwater search plant so that the two electric dipoles formed by them are turned relative to the longitudinal vertical axial plane of the underwater search plant to different sides through the same angle. The receiving electrodes are positioned on the underwater search plant so that the two receiving dipoles formed by then are turned relative to the transverse vertical axial plane of the underwater search plant to different sides through the same angle. The exciting electrodes via the switch are connected to the output of the AC generator, the receiving electrodes are connected to the inputs of the signal selector of the receivers, whose outputs via the second switch are connected to the first input of the control and signal transduction unit, whose second input is connected to the output of the AC generator, the control inputs of the switches are connected to the control input of the control and signal transduction unit. According to the second modification of the device, its control and signal transduction unit additionally has a second control output, and the AC generator additionally has a master input that is directly connected to the second control input of the control and signal transduction unit. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of detection of a metal-containing extended underwater object directly during the motion of the underwater apparatus at any relative bearing relative to the route of the extended object during a single run and determination of its orientation, continuous tracking of the route of an extended object in the process of motion of the underwater apparatus along the route. 6 cl, 6 dwg
