FIELD: electromagnetic research.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electromagnetic research. A device for detecting and tracking a metal-containing extended underwater object from the board of an underwater search installation (USI) contains two sets of elements and assemblies, each of them has search systems containing two emitting dipoles, made in the form of four exciting electrodes installed in the bow and aft USI, two receiving dipoles, made in the form of four receiving electrodes, an alternating voltage generator, two switches, a controllable attenuator, a current measuring transducer, as well as a control and signal conversion unit, which is connected through a serial communication port via an exchange channel to the USI motion control system, while synchronization of the operation of the device sets is ensured by interconnected transceivers of each set. The longitudinal axes of the search systems of the first and second set of the device are deployed in a horizontal plane relative to the longitudinal axis of the device in opposite directions at the same angle corresponding to the maximum signal values at the receiving dipoles when the USI moves along the underwater object.
EFFECT: increasing the tracking accuracy and decreasing the amplitude of oscillations of the trajectory of the underwater search unit when it moves along an extended underwater metal-containing object by increasing the reliability of its detection and the accuracy of processing signals from the receiving electrodes.
