FIELD: metallurgy, namely rapid cooling of rolled stock. SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes jet unit and cooling chamber having successively mounted alternating tubular guides and sleeves with variable cross section inner ducts; said sleeves are rotatably mounted with formation of coaxial cavity. In jet unit in front of nozzle inlet sleeve is rotatably mounted. Inner ducts of all sleeves are in the form of converging tube and diffuser mutually joined by cylindrical portion with diameter equal to 0.25- 0.75 of inner diameter of tubular guide. Each coaxial cavity is joined by ducts with cavity of adjacent tubular guides. It is rationally to make sleeves of material with high wear resistance, for example on base of tungsten carbide. EFFECT: lowered wear value, uniform distribution of wear along inner surface of sleeves and therefore enhanced centering of rolled stock. 2 cl, 1 dwg
