METHOD OF CLEANING OF SURFACE OF WATER BASIN FROM FOULING BY OIL PRODUCTS Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: environmental control, removal of oil, lubricant and other combustible fouling spread over surface of water objects in consequence of accident in pipeline, in tanker fleet or in process of hole drilling. SUBSTANCE: method includes formation of fireproof obstacle for floating fouling with the aid of two similar soft shells interjoined with formation of slit-like conduit over entire length of shells. Both shells put into basin are filled in same manner: partially by air and partially by water so that slit-like conduit is set vertically and shells assume semicylinder form. Fire-resistance of obstacle is secured by uninterrupted watering of outer parts of shells coming forward above water surface from slit-like conduit which outlets are located in upper part between shells and inlets communicate with shells partially filled with water. Fouling is conducted partially by its collection in soft shells and difficult for collection residue is burnt. Height of fireproof obstacle above level of water in basin and its buoyancy are controlled during partial filling of shells with air. Outer parts of shells protruding above water are watered by supply of water from basin into bottom parts of shells with the aid of pressure unit, water transfer from shells into slit-like conduit and then on to outer surface of shells. EFFECT: enhanced cleaning of water surface, possibility of employment of method not only on calm water but in basins with strong currents and variations of water surface. 3 cl, 1 dwg
