FIELD: individual protection devices. SUBSTANCE: vest has textile part including protective panels and damping members. Protective members are formed by multiple folding of ballistic fabric without cutting apart threads along edges of panels, and ballistic fabric edges are laid in overlapping relationship, with the width of overlapped portions being equal to at least five diameters of supposed small arms opening. Vest may be used for protecting individual's body from bullets of short-barreled small arms. Construction of vest provides for effective employment of protective panel area because share of useful weight with respect to total weight of article is increased by maintaining protective properties of multilayer ballistic fabric at distance of at least five diameters of small arms opening from fabric edge.
