METHOD FOR RECOGNIZING PERSON IDENTITY Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves analyzing human face structure including system education operation with a reference set of patterns of people faces under identification built in advance to represent different phases of the faces, show specific traits and recording them in memory; recognition operation with video image showing face of a person to be identified receivable by means of optical transducer in real-time mode, video image analysis for fixing human face and selecting its characteristic traits, comparison of the characteristic traits to the traits saved in the reference set and authorized access system reeducation operation. The reference set is built in process of predefined head movements performed by the person under identification as two-dimensional information fields. Background within selected information field area is normalized. Black-and-white image of the face is built and horizontal strip is selected on the image with eye images belonging to it. Asymmetry of the strip image is studied to evaluate face phase. The result of the evaluation is used for searching reference face patterns with phases being close to the evaluated one. The image is part-by-part compared to the reference patterns selected and decision is taken if it is required to include additional reference patterns into the reference set of patterns for performing system reeducation.
