FIELD: testing mechanical and building structures. SUBSTANCE: proposed method consists in securing the ends of rod in bearing units of testing machine followed by changing the location of strengthening support by shifting it through definite distance; transversal oscillations are excited in rod at resonance frequency in way of its minimum bending rigidity at each state; then oscillation frequency is measured and maximum magnitude is indicative of optimal location of strengthening support. EFFECT: reduced labor consumption; reduced time required for determination of optimal location of strengthening support in case of loss of stability. 1 dwg
