FIELD: cleaning of gas flow from solid and aerosol impurities, applicable for air cleaning in inhabitable premises and production floor-areas. SUBSTANCE: the electrostatic precipitator has a body accommodating settling and corona-forming electrodes, high-voltage power source. The electrodes are made in the form of a cartridge, the corona-forming electrode is made of a conductor, 0.05 to 0.15 mm in diameter, has a staggered shape and is positioned between the periodic settling electrodes at a distance from them equal to half the length of the settling electrodes in the direction of the cleaned flow. Positioned in the space between the corona-forming and settling electrodes at the outflow, at a distance of 100 to 200 diameters of the corona-forming electrode, are additional electric-insulated electrodes from it and settling electrodes. The poles of the high-voltage power source are connected to the corona-forming and settling electrodes via high-ohmic resistors. The high-voltage power source has a rectifying element, thyristor, dropping resistor, charging circuit comprising a resistor and capacitor, high-voltage transformer and a voltage multiplier, the dropping resistor is made as an incandescent lamp located outside the power source.
