FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fuel injection systems of two component fuel type. Invention contains description of operation of internal combustion engine with fuel injection system including injector for delivery of fuel- gas mixture into engine combustion chamber. Engine has gas supply system in which pressure level required for injection of fuel into engine is built by sequence of pumping operations providing opening of injector and flowing of gas under pressure from combustion chamber through injector into gas supply system. This provides building of pressure in gas supply system when pressure in combustion chamber exceeds that in gas supply system. Invention contains also description of operation of internal combustion engine including many groups of cylinders with gas supply system for each group of cylinders, and gas supply source used to supply each gas system with gas under pressure. In case of failure of supply of each gas system with gas pressure, one of gas supply systems is used as gas pressure supply source. EFFECT: reduced time taken for building gas pressure-in two-component fuel injection system and provision of reliable injection. 24 cl, 6 dwg
