Pressure P of gaseous fission products in fuel-element ventilation system and amount of fuel material m escaping from fuel element being ventilated are measured at reactor heat power maintained constant; maximal temperature T of fuel material in fuel element is evaluated using expression T = (m•P•ΣR/(A•t•exp(-B/T)))2,, where :ΣR is total resistance of ventilation system, l/m; A and B are factors depending on kind of fuel material; t is time, s; P is pressure, Pa; T is temperature, K; m is mass, kg.
