SUBSTANCE: in the course of testing ventilated fuel element in reactor, rate of emission of fuel material from fuel element through ventilation system is determined, heat release is measured in fuel material condensate discharged from fuel element; pressure of steam-gas mixture in ventilation system is also measured, then heat power is maintained constant for desired time interval, and variation in fuel material mass in fuel element is determined; maximum temperature To of fuel is evaluated; fuel material heat conductivity in fuel element is found from formula , where qv is heat release density in fuel material; Te is temperature of fuel element cladding; rc is fuel core radius; εr is relative volume content of fuel material in fuel element.
