SUBSTANCE: proposed method used for developing fuel elements, including high-temperature thermionic ones, and experimentally refining them in nuclear reactors includes pressure measurement of gaseous fission products P in fuel element ventilation system at time moment t of interest, ventilated fuel element being used for the purpose; temperature measurement of fuel element cladding Te; measurement of amount of fuel material m escaping from fuel element; calculation of maximal temperature in fuel core T0 and evaluation of heat release qv in fuel element using equations given in description of invention.
