FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: apparatus 110 for moistening hydrophilic URETHRAL catheter 103 has moistening vessel 101 defining zone 102 for receiving moistening liquid for introducing hydrophilic URETHRAL catheter, and moistening liquid container 106 for hydrophilic URETHRAL catheter. Container has discharge opening 126, which is opened for discharging moistening liquid from container or closed for cutting off liquid flow, depending on predetermined conditions. Container 106 for moistening liquid may be located in vessel 101 in operating position with at least discharge opening being arranged inside moistening vessel. Moistening vessel is made such and moistening liquid container is arranged with respect to moistening vessel so that in case of presence of predetermined condition, when container is in operating position, moistening liquid is discharged into liquid receiving zone for moistening hydrophilic URETHRAL catheter. Such construction allows catheter to be moistened under sterile conditions, i.e., patient does not have to touch catheter to eliminate the hazard of introducing infection.
