FIELD: electrical and radio engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention refers to connection of optical fibers having metal coat and protection over connection point. Process includes operations of linking of optical fibers having metal coats by melting of joined surfaces of optical fibers with the aid of special fixture, laying of connected optical fiber with metal coat in metal V-shaped groove of lower plate, application of metal adhesive on side surfaces of metal V-shaped groove of lower plate, packing of connected optical fiber by arrangement of metal V-shaped groove of upper plate above metal V-shaped groove of lower plate, uniform application of adhesive and hardening of metal adhesive in connection point by supply of high-temperature air into metal grooves. Connection point of optical fibers is protected by soldering cream that bonds connection providing for high rupture strength. Besides that length of connection point gets shorter which allows connected optical fiber to be laid in small space of device using optical fibers. EFFECT: provision for high strength and compactness of hook- up and shortened length of connection. 1 cl, 2 dwg
