FIELD: organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: pentenoic acids are subjected to hydroxycarbonylation by interaction with water and carbon monoxide in presence of iridium and/or rhodium catalyst, iodinated or brominated promoter, and also in presence of C4-C20-dicarboxylic acids in amounts no greater than 200 g per 1 kg reaction mixture. Method is characterized by that at least part of pentenoic acids, catalyst, and promoter are reused in continuation of process. EFFECT: improved economical efficiency of process. 11 cl
